AIC A-12/98. Application of Basic RNAV (B-RNAV) in København FIR and Copenhagen Area
1. Date of Application
8 OCT 1998. Replaces on said date AIC A-11/97 and A-02/98.
2. General
2.1
All aircraft - other than state aircraft - operating IFR above FL
95 in controlled airspace in København FIR and Copenhagen Area,
shall be equipped with RNAV equipment (RNP 5).
2.1.1 Basic RNAV shall be used in Helicopter Main Routes when
prescribed.
2.2
RNAV equipment must be installed, approved and operated
in accordance with the latest edition of JAA Temporary Guidance
Leaflet No. 2 "AMJ 20X2 JAA Guidance Material on Airworthiness
Approval and Operational Criteria for the Use of Navigation Systems
in European Airspace Designated for Basic RNAV Operations".
2.3
The requirement for B-RNAV equipment is additional to the
minimum radio navigation equipment as stated in AIP COM 0-3.
2.4
Within an area over the North Sea bordered by co-ordinates
57 00N 005 00E - 57 00N 007 00E - 55 00N 007 00E - 55 00N 005
00E - 57 00N 005 00E, there is insufficient coverage from VORs and/
or DMEs to fulfil RNAV (RNP 5). Radar service may be expected with-
in the area.
3. Alleviations
3.1
Until 1 JAN 2001 the requirement for mandatory carriage of
RNAV is suspended for IFR flights which are carried out solely within
København FIR and/or Copenhagen Area between FL 95 and FL
195, unless the ATS-route flown is designated "RNAV OPS ONLY".
3.2
IFR flights are permitted below FL 95 without RNAV equip-
ment, unless the ATS route flown is designated "RNAV OPS ONLY".
4. Flight Plan
4.1
The letter "R" shall be inserted in the flight plan, item 10 (item
"Q" for a RPL) if operational RNAV is carried.
4.2
Insert "STS/NONRNAV" in the flight plan, item 18, if no RNAV
equipment is carried.
5. Phraseology
5.1
All IFR flights, operating without RNAV, shall add "NEGATIVE
RNAV" immediately after callsign on initial call on an ATC frequency.
6. Contingencies
6.1
In case of failure of ground based navigation aids (VORs/
DMEs) or failure of an airborne RNAV system, ATC will, as far as pos-
sible, provide navigational assistance on request.
6.2
In case of failure of an airborne RNAV system before depar-
ture, individual flights in København FIR and Copenhagen Area, may
be exempted by København ACC, Supervisor.
