DASSAULT AVIATION MYSTERE FALCON 50
RVSM - Monitoring flight
1. APPLICABILITY:
This Telegraphic Airworthiness Directive is applicable to DASSAULT AVIATION MYSTERE FALCON 50 aircraft S/N
15, 19, 38, 45, 51, 64, 66, 77, 80, 95, 114, 121, 135, 153, 210, 216, 221, 226, 250.
2. REASON:
The MYSTERE-FALCON 50 listed in paragraph "Applicability" have embodied SB-246 but have never been monitored
by EUROCONTROL.
In the frame of the GLOBAL RVSM implementation in Europe starting on the 24
th
of January 2002, and following the
discovery of 13 MYSTERE-FALCON 50 having exceeded ICAO requirements for RVSM height keeping accuracy, this
AD requires the aircraft, which have embodied SB-246 but for which no monitoring of height keeping accuracy is
known, to be monitored in order to ensure their safe RVSM operation.
3. ACTIONS:
The following actions are rendered mandatory from the effective date of this AD:
Perform a monitoring flight during next flight in RVSM area but not later than 3 months following the effective date of
this AD:
-
Call your DASSAULT Customer Service representative to get flight directives;
-
Flight stabilized, above a Height Monitoring Unit (HMU), or with a GPS Monitoring Unit (GMU) record Weight
and Mach.
If the result of the monitoring flight exceeds the ICAO requirements, the RVSM approval of the aircraft is suspended
before the next flight and the TC No 56 will have to be inserted in the AFM, Limitations Section 1-15, opposite page
1-15-4.
Note: This suspension may be lifted following the inspection of the aircraft by a team including a representative agreed
by the manufacturer and the implementation of the corrective actions which will be defined by a representative agreed
by the manufacturer and following by some height monitoring flights defined by the manufacturer above HMU or
according GMU procedures.
For this purpose, the operators of the concerned aircraft will be contacted by the manufacturer.
Then the operator will have to obtain the agreement of his Airworthiness Authority to obtain the cancellation of the
suspension.
Effective date: Upon receipt from JANUARY 22, 2002
